Spring feedback evaluation: 97% of teachers recommend Running Paper

Evaluation across 17 schools and 15+ subjects shows a recommendation rate jump from 87% to 97%, with consistent time savings and positive impact on student outcomes.

A bigger cohort, a clearer signal

When we ran our winter evaluation, teachers across 13 schools gave us strong early evidence that Running Paper was delivering real value. We said we’d keep listening. This term we ran our evaluation across 17 schools, with Running Paper now being used beyond UK classrooms for the first time.

The growth is not just in numbers. It is in the depth of use, the range of subjects, and the strength of what teachers are telling us. Maths, English, sciences, humanities, MFL and more and a recommendation rate that jumped from 87% in winter to 97% this term.

Time savings that actually move the needle

These are average savings per class, per assessment. Across every use case, the numbers are consistent and substantial.

For a teacher running five classes, 2.8 hours saved per mock per class adds up fast and that is before accounting for the additional time saved on question level analysis and class reports. But the feedback we keep hearing is not just about hours reclaimed. It is about what teachers can do with them. Patterns spotted earlier. Misconceptions addressed before they compound. Lessons planned around what students actually struggled with.

“Saves me so much time! As a busy HoD it gives me the capacity to oversee significant amounts of marking and feedback.”

Elisa Yanez, Head of MFL, The Westwood Academy

Built on what teachers tell us

Every improvement we have made this year has come directly from classroom use. Cleaner reports. Stronger confidence metrics. Workflows that fit alongside existing assessment processes rather than disrupting them. This term’s feedback is already shaping what comes next.

Alongside the work in schools, Running Paper has been part of the Chartered College of Teaching’s EdTech Evidence Board pilot, the Turing Innovation Catalyst at the University of Manchester and DOHE’s Go-Together accelerator. All of which are helping us build more rigorously and reach further.

“Not generic feedback but rather it is responsive to what the student wrote and understood where they went wrong as per the mark scheme.”

Maths teacher, The Campion School

What this tells us

A 97% recommendation rate. Consistent time savings across every assessment type. Positive impact on student outcomes across more than 15 subjects. Teachers are choosing to keep using Running Paper because it works and that, more than anything, is what drives us forward.
